A video is being shared on social networks where it is said to be the moment when the Nova Kakhovka dam was blown up. If this sighting is true, it refutes claims that there was no explosion. The Russians are believed to have blown up the dam to slow down a Ukrainian counterattack
As Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of attacking the Kakhovka dam this morning, the UK Foreign Secretary says it is "too early" to give an assessment of the situation.
A dam in a Russian-controlled part of the southern Kherson region burst after an explosion, causing flooding in the area and forcing people to flee their homes.
James Cleverly said he had heard reports of the explosion but that it was too early to make "any kind of meaningful assessment of the details".
"It's worth remembering that the only reason this is a problem is because of Russia's unprovoked total invasion of Ukraine," the foreign secretary added.
"We will continue to assess the developing situation, but the best thing Russia can do now is withdraw its troops immediately."
Cleverly's comments came after he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev yesterday.
