Israel has claimed responsibility for the attack on the refugee camp in Gaza, where at least 47 civilians died. IDF spokesman Daniel Haggari said the Israeli army managed to take control of a Hamas stronghold in western Jabaliya while neutralizing Hamas commander Ibrahim Biari.
According to the IDF, Biari was the commander of the central battalion in Jabalia and oversaw all fighting in northern Gaza.

Spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht said earlier that the IDF was targeting "a very senior Hamas commander" in the area around the camp.
The IDF also said that "a large number of terrorists" were killed in the attack, which also led to the collapse of the underground infrastructure they were using.
