American media reports that at the beginning of Operation "Epic Fury", the president was at his Mar-a-Lago residence, while important figures such as Tulsi Gabbard and the vice president had more of an observer role than a decision-maker.
This situation indicates a highly centralized structure, where decisions are made top-down and centered around the personality of the president.
According to analysis, Trump does not seek out opposing opinions and prefers to rely on his intuitive judgment, both in military matters and in negotiations to end conflicts.
And according to many sources, President Trump is relying less on traditional diplomatic channels, like the State Department, and more on his instincts. You heard it from the president himself, who says that sometimes, he knows when he feels it in his bones.
And part of that is the character of President Trump.
He has long expressed distrust of American intelligence agencies. He has expressed skepticism of career diplomats. This is important, because this is a strategy when it comes to Iran and when it comes to negotiations that is not driven by consensus, but rather a top-down approach.
So, obviously there has to be some frustration among diplomats when they look at the strategy and see that sometimes, policy experts are being ignored, intelligence officials are being ignored, and, most importantly, professional diplomats are not being taken into account.
This leadership style raises concerns about the lack of balance in decision-making and the limited role of senior advisors in the process.
