The private and somewhat secretive ceremony of the head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was held on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people took part in the escort to the last residence, although Russian President Vladimir Putin was not among them.
As it was announced before by the Kremlin, Putin's presence was not planned at this funeral ceremony. And while the whole world is still speculating about the reasons for the plane crash in which state Prigozhin is, it is expected that the investigation office will at some point to find out the causes.
Meanwhile, the news that the plane was "flattened" in the place where it crashed has caused a big stir.
CNN reports that the site has been bulldozed.
"The place where the plane crashed has been completely razed to the ground by bulldozers, so that at first glance it looks like no plane crashed here at all," said journalist Matthew Chains, who is currently in Russia.
Meanwhile, Russia has informed its aviation investigation authority that it will not investigate the crash of the Brazilian Embraer ( EMBR3.SA ) plane that killed Wagner mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin under international rules for now, the Brazilian agency told Reuters on Tuesday.
Prigozhin, the two top lieutenants of his Wagner group and four bodyguards were among 10 people who died when the Embraer Legacy 600 crashed north of Moscow last week.
The plane crash, which occurred exactly two months after Prigozhin led a brief uprising, is being seen as a significant challenge to President Vladimir Putin's tenure, potentially the most significant since he came to power in 1999.
