The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, explains the meetings with the Russian ambassador, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, with a friendly relationship.
In a press conference, Vucic rejected accusations that the meetings serve to report to the Russian diplomat.
"I have known the ambassador of Russia for many years. We have an impeccable relationship. It may be too much to say that we are friends, but I probably won't be wrong if I say that. When someone says that you went to the Russian ambassador to reported, you can draw two conclusions.
One is that such people judge based on their own prejudices. They are actually the ones who go to some foreign ambassadors to be reported. Second, he was my guest. I waited for him, not him for me. Therefore, this sounds ridiculous," said Vucic.
According to the Russian president, behind this type of propaganda are those who want to impose sanctions on Moscow and follow unfriendly policies towards Russia.
Vucic and Botsan-Kharchenko met on August 28. Their meeting came only 4 days after the Russian diplomat had met the Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic.
