Cyclone Poppea hit Trieste, flooding many streets in the center, including Piazza Unità d'Italia. Tourists and citizens sought shelter in nearby bars and clubs as chairs and other furnishings from local venues were moved by the strong wind.
The following footage shows the darkened sky and the storm hitting the city.
In Trieste there was heavy rain of a stormy nature, accompanied by stormy winds that exceeded 100 km/h and hundreds of lightnings. The self-regenerating storm (called V-shaped) is particularly violent, due to the consistency and violence of the precipitation which can continue for several hours always in the same area.
