Hundreds of pages of documents from a lawsuit involving accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein were released yesterday.
About 200 names are included in the 943 pages of documents. The widely-released documents do not appear to reveal much new information about Epstein and his clients. However, other documents are expected to be published in the coming days. More than 100 people have been named, some charged with crimes, while others in court documents make allegations or are potential witnesses.
Epstein had many high-profile connections, including former US presidents, foreign prime ministers and Britain's Prince Andrew. He also met Hollywood stars, leading academics, people in the modeling and fashion industries and other public figures. Some of the names were previously known through other means, although they were withheld from the public during the court process.
Many of the names belong to people who have not been charged with a crime. Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew. Michael Jackson and David Copperfield The publication includes references to Johanna Sjoberg, who claimed Prince Andrew grabbed her breasts while sitting on a sofa in Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan apartment in 2001.
Shoberg, whose deposition is being made public for the first time, worked for Epstein and said he sometimes pushed him with sexual massages.
Former US President Bill Clinton is also mentioned in the court documents. According to records, Joanna Shoberg testified that Epstein once told her that Clinton "likes little ones," referring to girls. Mr Clinton had an affair with a 22-year-old White House intern while he was US president.
Shoberg also testified that she had met with Michael Jackson at Epstein's residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
The records include Maxwell's testimony confirming that Clinton traveled on Epstein's private jet, but she did not know how many times.
Mr. Clinton flew Epstein's plane on humanitarian trips to Africa in the early 2000s and at the time praised Epstein as a dedicated philanthropist, though he said he later cut ties with him.
When reached for comment, Mr. Clinton's representatives referred to a statement he issued in 2019 saying he "knows nothing" about Epstein's crimes.
One notable new name is the famous American magician David Copperfield, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenage model and is described in the documents as a friend of Epstein. The magician has not been accused of anything improper in relation to Epstein.
