Scandal in Italy/Sexist page that shared photos of VIP women, including Giorgia

A major scandal has erupted in Italy after the closure of the online website “Phica.eu”, which circulated private photos of women accompanied by sexist and offensive comments. The platform, which claimed to be created as a space for “discussion and personal sharing”, turned into an abuse forum where images of politicians, actresses, influencers and even Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni were also published.

According to reports, many women from all over Italy have filed complaints with the postal police after discovering that their photos had been stolen and distributed not only on Phica.eu, but also on another similar site called “Mia Moglie.” Police have opened investigations to find out who is behind the management of these portals and how the images were obtained, while also trying to identify the authors of the sexist comments.

The site's administrators, in a public statement, said they had failed to curb the "toxic behavior" of its users and decided to close the platform, distancing themselves from accusations of promoting derogatory content. They claimed that they had "always stopped and reported" illegal material and that they had cooperated with authorities for more than 20 years. However, for many, the site's closure is seen as an admission of failure to stop abuse and as another example of the risk the internet poses to women's privacy and safety.
