The American researcher, Ivana Stradner, has said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic does not want membership in the European Union, but his money.
According to her, Vucic only wants the path to the EU as he needs money in order to survive in politics.
Stradner made these comments on the social network "X" where he shared the article of the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who wrote about the meeting she had in Athens with Vucic.
"The road to the EU or EU membership? Vucic wants the path to the EU because he needs your money for his political survival. He does not want EU membership," said Stradner.
Whereas der Leyen wrote that he spoke with the Serbian president "about the need for constructive engagement to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo and Serbia's progress on its way to the EU".
"I spoke with President Aleksandar Vucic about the need for constructive engagement to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo and Serbia's progress on its way to the EU. Closer integration between the EU and the Western Balkans is vital, especially in the face of Russia's war against Ukraine," said der Leyen.
