Sophisticated Superrobbery Thieves Steal $30 Million in Los Angeles Without

Thieves stole tens of millions of dollars from a cash warehouse in Los Angeles on Easter Sunday, and their crime was only discovered the next day.

The theft of at least $30 million is one of the largest cash thefts in US state history, local media reported.

There is little information about who committed the crime which was described as "detailed" or very precise. The Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are jointly investigating the case.

No alarms were triggered and no one knew thieves had broken into the facility, located in the San Fernando Valley, where cash from local businesses is processed and stored in a vault. A crew of sophisticated thieves is believed to have entered through the roof, according to local media. Only a small group of people were aware that so much money was kept in the building.

It took until Monday, when employees of the facility opened the safe, to realize that the massive sum was missing. The safe had no outward signs of being broken into.

According to American media, the theft occurred at a GardaWorld facility in the suburban neighborhood of Sylmar. A news helicopter over the scene captured an apparent hole in the side of the building with debris nearby, however, it is unclear if it is related to the theft.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the total exceeds what was taken from armored vehicle robberies in the area. The largest cash heist in LA history was in September 1997 when $18.9 million was stolen from Dunbar Armored Inc, according to the paper. Six men, including a former employee, were eventually arrested. In 2022, an armored truck was robbed about 90 km north of where Sunday's robbery took place. Thieves grabbed dozens of bags containing vintage jewelry and jewels while the guards were confused.

The value of the stolen items is over 100 million dollars. No arrests have been made. Last year, thieves at the Toronto airport stole more than $15 million in gold and cash. An aircraft container carrying the cargo arrived at the airport and was transported to a cargo holding facility where police believe the robbery took place. It is one of the biggest robberies in Canadian history.
