Trump-Xi meeting alarms Moscow, Putin expected to travel to China: We will
Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping

US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing appears to have raised Moscow's "radar" for US-China relations, as the Kremlin prepares for Vladimir Putin's upcoming visit to the Chinese capital.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is closely following all signals that emerged from the Trump-Xi Jinping meetings, implying that Moscow seeks to understand more clearly the direction that the relationship between the two superpowers may take.

During his daily press conference, Peskov confirmed that preparations for the Russian president's visit to China have been completed and that the trip will take place "very soon."

"In fact, the visit will take place very soon. Preparations for the visit are truly complete, as consultations have been held and all the main details of the visit have been agreed upon," he declared.

The Kremlin also signaled that Moscow and Beijing will soon make an official joint announcement, emphasizing the close coordination between the two countries.

"We will make an official announcement soon. Since we are doing this based on an agreement with our Chinese friends, we do not want to get ahead of time," Peskov said.

However, most attention was focused on the Kremlin's comments on Donald Trump's visit to Beijing. Peskov acknowledged that Moscow is closely monitoring international reports and expects to receive more detailed information once the Russian delegation arrives in China.

"We are closely following media reports and also expect to receive first-hand information once we arrive in China ," he said.

The statement is interpreted as an indication that Russia is trying to understand whether the Trump-Xi meeting could bring changes to global balances, at a time when relations between Moscow and Beijing are considered among the closest in recent years.

According to Peskov, during his visit to China, Putin will discuss with the Chinese leadership not only bilateral relations, but also key international developments.

"Bilateral relations come first, including our privileged partnership and impressive trade and economic cooperation, with an annual value exceeding $200 billion ," he declared, adding that global issues will also be in focus.

At his briefing, the Kremlin spokesman also commented on the situation in Cuba, confirming that Russia is in constant contact with Cuban authorities due to the fuel supply crisis.

"We are in contact with the Cuban leadership, our friends. The situation is really difficult," Peskov declared.
