A person was shot dead on Friday evening in the Marbotin neighborhood of Schaerbeek, said Audrey Dereymaeker, spokeswoman for the Brussels-North police area.
Police were called at around 9:20 p.m. to reports of gunshots on Chaussée d'Haecht. Upon arrival, officers found a person seriously injured. First aid was immediately administered.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries. The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office has been notified and is at the scene.
An investigation was immediately launched, while no information was provided on the identity or origin of the victim.
