Skopje-Athens tensions, Mitsotakis continues the threats: Do not provoke, we

Greek politics continues to send threatening messages to North Macedonia, as their relations are extremely troubled. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has warned the new president to stop verbal provocations and practical questioning of the Prespa Agreement today from Follorina.

The new president of North Macedonia, Gordana Silianovska, during her swearing-in called her country "Macedonia", while the new prime minister continued the provocation by telling Greece that he will call his country whatever he wants.

Mitsotakis expressly stated that if the new Skopje leadership insists on provocative rhetoric, then their European path will remain closed.

"I am unhappy that our northern neighbors have chosen at this moment to go back in time and question the name of their country.

When Prespes was voted, the ND was against it but said that we cannot break an international agreement by law and article. I want to send a message a few kilometers away from our borders, in Skopje: if they insist on challenging the essence of the agreement on the name of the country, know that their European path will remain closed. And I don't say this with joy ," said Mitsotakis.

Mitsotakis also emphasized that the Commission's reaction to the unacceptable statements of President Gordana Silianovska was made at the instigation of Greece. The European Commission called on North Macedonia to implement the agreement.

We emphasize that the card of influence on EU integration is always used by Greece in every dispute, not only with North Macedonia but also with Albania.
