Trump's request seems to have fallen on deaf ears...
This afternoon, President Donald Trump issued a call to allies, but not only, asking them to help with the safety of tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on the social network “Truth”, Trump said that he hoped that the United Kingdom, Japan, France, South Korea and China would send warships to the Strait of Hormuz.
He stressed that all countries economically affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz should join the US in allowing oil ships to pass through. He asked them to play only a defensive role, while as for the destruction of Iranian ships and combat capabilities, Trump said he would take it upon himself until the strait is completely freed.
“Many countries, especially those affected by Iran’s attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, will be sending Warships, in cooperation with the United States, to keep the Strait open and secure. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability, but it is easy for them to send a drone or two, lay a mine, or launch a short-range missile somewhere along or within this waterway, no matter how badly they are defeated. We hope that China, France, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and others, affected by this artificial restriction, will send Ships to the area so that the Strait of Hormuz is no longer a threat from a Nation that has been completely cut off. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing up to the coast and constantly shooting Iranian ships and boats from the water. One way or another, we will soon open the Strait of Hormuz, "SAFE and FREE! President DONALD J. TRUMP ," he wrote at around 3:02 p.m.
Trump's request appeared to fall on deaf ears. There was only one response from the UK following his call, which did not confirm anything. A British Ministry of Defence spokesman said Britain was considering a "range of options" following Trump's call.
"As we have said before, we are currently discussing with our allies and partners a range of options to ensure the security of maritime transport in the region ," he said.
Meanwhile, the rest of the US allies remained silent. No one confirmed or denied anything. This would prompt Trump to make a second appeal, this time without mentioning specific names.
Writing again in “Social Truth,” Trump asked countries that transit oil through the Strait of Hormuz to provide military assistance to facilitate the passage of tankers. Trump added that the countries would have U.S. assistance.
“ The United States of America has defeated and completely destroyed Iran, both militarily, economically and in every other way, but the countries of the world that get oil through the Strait of Hormuz must take care of that passage, and we will help - A LOT! The United States will also coordinate with those countries so that everything goes quickly, smoothly and well. This should have always been a team effort, and now it will be - It will unite the world towards Harmony, Security and Eternal Peace! President DONALD J. TRUMP ,” Trump wrote at 7:58 p.m.
After Trump's second call, France reacted. Unlike Britain, which was more diplomatic, France made it clear that it would not send warships to the Strait of Hormuz, closing the door to Trump's plan. The French Defense Ministry said that France's purpose is only defensive.
"Stop spreading panic: France says 'no' to sending warships to the Strait of Hormuz. No. The (French) aircraft carrier strike group remains in the Eastern Mediterranean. France's mission remains: Protect. Protect. Stop spreading panic ," the French ministry said in response.
This shows that Europe is willing to bear the financial costs of the war in Iran and is not accepting to be involved in a war for which they were not asked by the US, leaving the latter alone in the Middle Eastern desert./ Pamphlet
