A terrifying case was discovered in Central Greece, where a woman had buried her mother for several years, in a village in Viotia in the stables of her house, in order to receive her pension!
The 62-year-old woman, who was a manager at a Health Education Center, told police that her elderly mother had mobility problems and passed away from pathological causes in their home in 2023, at the age of 91.
However, because she was facing financial problems, she concealed her death in order to continue "to receive her disability payment and pension" and buried her in a stable, near the house, with the help of a stranger.
Since the summer of 2023, when the incident occurred, the elderly woman had not been seen anywhere in the village and on this occasion, a report was made to the Tebe prosecutor, who launched an investigation.
On Saturday, the 62-year-old presented another elderly woman who had a health problem as her mother, but then revealed to the police that she had buried her real mother near the house with the help of a man whose name she did not disclose. Then, in the presence of a judicial officer, an exhumation was carried out during which a human skeleton covered with sheets was found. She
is expected to be taken to the Tebe prosecutor within the day, while a file has been ordered against her for violating the articles on "failure to report the discovery of a dead person", "false testimony", "negligent homicide" and "fraud".
