The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza has reported that at least 46 Palestinians were killed today by attacks by Israeli forces, the majority in Gaza City, which remains the epicenter of the ground and air offensive.
Among the victims are women and children, while over a hundred others have been injured. Medical teams report that hospitals are overwhelmed and no longer have the capacity to cope with the large number of injured.
Displaced residents from the north say they have been chased by Israeli quadcopter drones as they try to flee south, firing on groups of civilians, raising fears among the population, already trapped between bombing and starvation.
Just the day before, the Israeli army killed 91 Palestinians in 24 hours. Among them were several family members of a prominent doctor in Gaza, as well as four civilians traveling in a truck from the north of the city.
These figures show that the offensive has intensified significantly, with Israel aiming to take control of Gaza City, calling it a "Hamas stronghold."
Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is reaching dramatic levels. Thousands of people are fleeing on foot towards the south, leaving behind rubble and a total lack of security. Humanitarian aid is almost blocked, with reports of severe shortages of food, drinking water and basic medicines.
International agencies warn of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe, while the international community continues to call for a ceasefire, without so far succeeding in stopping the offensive.
