Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the US to follow the EU in imposing sanctions against Moscow.
The EU recently adopted its 19th package of sanctions against Russia. Zelensky wrote that Russia must suffer the consequences of its actions. He also added that a response is needed to force Putin to seek peace.
"Russia must suffer the consequences of its actions. An appropriate response is needed to force it to seek peace. This can be achieved with sufficient military force, our long-range strike capabilities, and strong sanctions and pressure against Russia. Our partners have this power: the power to protect lives. We count on the 19th package of EU sanctions to be truly painful and on the United States to join the Europeans," Zelensky wrote on social media.
