A boy and a woman have been found 11 days after they were killed and burned in Hamas attacks. Their remains were discovered in a house that burned down in Kibbutz Beeri.
"Their bodies were burned after they were killed," he said.
Approximately 10% of those living in the kibbutz, 108 people, were killed in the attacks, out of a total of 1,400 deaths on October 7, according to Israeli officials.
Israel said it expected the toll to continue to rise slowly as forensics allows bodies to be identified.
The conflict began last Saturday when Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel, a surprise multi-pronged attack involving a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea and air. Hamas said the operation was in retaliation for the attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and increasing Israeli settler violence against Palestinians.
The Israeli military then launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas targets inside the Gaza Strip. Israel's response has extended to cutting off water and electricity supplies to Gaza, further worsening living conditions in an area that has been under a crippling siege since 2007. More than 3,500 people have been killed since the conflict erupted on October 7, including 3,478 killed in the Gaza Strip and 1,400 Israelis.
