At least 34 migrants are missing and two drowned when their boat sank off Tunisia after trying to cross the Mediterranean to Italy, the Tunisian national guard said.
The boat had sailed off the coast of Libya, with a total of 70 people. 34 of the migrants were rescued by the coast guard, near the town of Zarzis.
This week the Tunisian coast guard also recovered five bodies of migrants.
As weather conditions have improved in recent weeks, migration flows of African migrants to Italy are increasing.
Last year alone, some 1,313 migrants died or went missing outside Tunisia, a human rights group reported last month, underscoring the ongoing migrant crisis in the North African country.
