Two high-speed trains derailed this evening in the Cordoba region of Spain, killing five people and injuring several others.
Still unconfirmed information reports 5 dead. While initial reports from "El Pais" indicate that several people have been injured.
It is reported that the train was traveling from Malaga to Madrid's Atocha station when it derailed just 10 minutes after starting the journey in Adamo, crossed onto another line and collided with two carriages of a train bound for Huelva, causing both trains to derail.
Emergency services have arrived at the scene and are assisting in extracting trapped passengers.
As El Pais reports, there were around 300 people on the two trains, while the cause of the accident is not yet known.
Due to the accident, traffic on the high-speed line from Andalusia has been interrupted, while the rest of the railway network is operating normally.
The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, is at the Renfe emergency center at Atocha station in Madrid to closely follow the actions of the authorities.
