US President Donald Trump appears to have run out of patience with Iran. Trump appears to be seriously considering restarting the war with Iran after a pause of several weeks. Trump sent a direct message to Iran saying that time was running out for him.
Through a post on the social network "Truthsocial", Trump declared that if Tehran does not hurry to bring an acceptable peace proposal, the US will exterminate it and that nothing will be left in Iran.
"For Iran, time is running out, and they must move, FAST, or there will be nothing left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENTIAL! President DJT," Trump wrote.
Recall that Trump is losing patience with Iran for several main reasons. The nuclear deal has failed to deliver acceptable results for the US. Iran has continued to enrich uranium, has not surrendered its stockpile, and has not accepted strong limits on its nuclear program, despite pressure and brokered negotiations. This has led Trump to see Iran as a constant threat that does not respect American deadlines or proposals, leading him to threaten new military action to force a “much better” deal.
Moreover, Iran has not reined in its aggressive behavior in the region, and the Strait of Hormuz has remained largely closed or blocked, stalling hundreds of ships and causing global oil price crises. Despite previous US attacks, talks with China, and ultimatums, Tehran has not fully opened the sea route, holding international trade hostage.
This has frustrated Trump, who has been pushed to renew threats of major military strikes if Iran does not move quickly towards a deal.
