US President Donald Trump disagrees with the Pope on the issue of Iran, reiterating that Tehran should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
In an interview with the New York Post, he described the situation as one of the most important issues and warned of serious consequences if Iran were to acquire such a weapon.
" Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons, because they would use them and millions of people would die, including Italians and Catholics around the world ," Trump declared.
He added that he had asked the Pope two more questions, questioning his stance on the Iranian nuclear program and mentioning, according to him, the killing of 42,000 protesters in Iran.
His statements come in a context of ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear program and internal developments in the country.
