President Donald Trump said in an interview with CNN on Friday that the United States and Israel are aiming for "more or less similar things" in the war against Iran, as the military conflict between the US, Israel and Iran entered its third week.
"The relationship is very good, I think. We want things more or less similar ," Trump told CNN's Alayna Treene as he left the White House.
These comments come at a time of high tension, just hours after the US president called NATO allies "cowards" for not helping the US reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Trump, this strait remains virtually closed by Iranian actions, which has caused large increases in global oil prices.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has sent additional military forces to the Middle East, including the Navy and warships, to deal with the situation. The president has insisted that the war has been "won militarily" against Iran, but the fight is still ongoing.
