Donald Trump has fired up the Truth Social network again, this time to deny the existence of any “smoking gun” implicating powerful figures in the late Jeffrey Epstein affair. According to him, if such evidence existed, “the Democrats would have released it on day one.” But as usual, Trump is not speaking in soft tones:
" If there was something, why didn't they bring it out when they were in power? BECAUSE THEY HAD NOTHING!!! " he wrote, in his bombastic style in all caps.
Strong clash with MAGA
But the reaction didn't go as expected. Supporters of the MAGA movement, who for years believed that Trump would "reveal the blacklist of Epstein's clients," felt betrayed.
Conspiracists like Nick Fuentes called Trump's statement "a masquerade to protect himself." Meanwhile, a wave of calls began on social media demanding transparency and the release of files, including evidence collected by the FBI and the US Federal Prosecutor's Office.
Fight for political survival
Trump, now a candidate for a return to the White House, seems to be trying to close any wounds that may open in his campaign. His statement on the Epstein dossier is clear: he will not allow the case to be used against him, neither by Democrats nor from within his own ranks.
But will this rhetoric be enough to maintain control over the base that once worshipped him as the "savior against the elite"?
