United States President Donald Trump has called on Middle Eastern countries to join the Abraham Accords, presenting this as a necessary step for regional stability and the advancement of American diplomatic efforts in the region.
In a lengthy post on social media, Trump stated that following US efforts to resolve complex tensions in the Middle East, countries in the region must clearly commit to normalizing relations with Israel.
"After all the work done by the United States to try to solve this very complex mosaic, it should be mandatory that all of these countries, at least simultaneously, sign the Abraham Accords ," Trump wrote.
He linked the initiative to efforts for a broader peace agreement in the region, including tensions with Iran. However, Trump ruled out the possibility of Tehran becoming part of the agreements. Trump described the Abraham Accords as a historic document of global importance.
"There has never been another respected document like this, ever signed, anywhere in the world ," the US president declared.
He called for the process to begin immediately with Saudi Arabia and Qatar, warning that countries that refuse to join could be excluded from broader regional agreements.
"It should start with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and everyone else should follow suit. If they don't, they shouldn't be part of this deal, because that shows bad faith ," Trump said.
He added that he has instructed his representatives to immediately begin negotiations to expand the agreements.
"I am asking my representatives to begin and successfully complete the process of signing the historic Abraham Accords for these countries ," he stressed.
The Abraham Accords were signed during Trump's first term and aimed to normalize relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco. However, the accords have remained a subject of debate in the region, particularly due to the lack of progress on the Palestinian issue and the reservations of some Arab states about joining the process.
