The US president demands disarmament and total surrender of Gaza, while Netanyahu accepts the plan with conditions. Peace in the Middle East depends on Hamas' response...
In an unprecedented statement that shocked international opinion, US President Donald Trump warned of the "total disappearance" of Hamas if it does not unconditionally accept the US plan for the complete handover of power in Gaza.
In an interview with CNN this Sunday, Trump confirmed that he is working intensively with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to implement a 20-point plan, which aims to resolve the Gaza issue once and for all, but through a brutal ultimatum: either peace with disarmament, or total destruction.
This plan, described by analysts as the most radical since the Oslo Accords, requires Hamas to:
· Surrender all remaining hostages,
· Completely disarmed,
· Resign from any government function,
· Accept a transitional administration led by an international force or Palestinian technocrats supported by the UN and the US.
According to Associated Press sources, Hamas has given preliminary signals that it will accept the handover of power and the release of hostages, but categorically rejects disarmament, considering it a "heartless surrender" in the face of an Israel that has not offered any guarantees to stop military operations in Gaza.
On the other hand, Netanyahu, caught between domestic political pressures and international pressure, has accepted the plan in principle, but has set several conditions: continued control of Gaza's southern border, maintaining the possibility of military intervention, and preventing the return of any armed Hamas elements to the Palestinian political scene.
Trump has made it clear that this is the "only chance for peace" and that the US will cut off all diplomatic support for any party that obstructs this process.
"If Hamas does not accept, then there will be no further negotiations, there will only be consequences," he said.
This is a historic moment for the Middle East, where American diplomacy is trying to impose a tough solution, but is supported by several Arab countries such as Egypt and the Emirates, which hope for a stabilization of the region through the neutralization of Hamas and the restoration of a functional civilian administration in Gaza.
However, the dilemmas remain: Who will administer Gaza if Hamas leaves? How will the security of civilians be maintained without turning the area into an Israeli military protectorate?
Will the Palestinian population accept a "solution" that comes in the form of diplomatic and military coercion?
Against the backdrop of this confrontation, it clearly appears that Trump is seeking to regain the role of "great negotiator" in one of the most difficult issues in international politics, using strong tools, but which at first glance are yielding results.
As the world anxiously follows developments in Gaza, diplomacy has become a battlefield as delicate as it is brutal, where the fate of a people is being negotiated between threats, conditions, and strategic interests./ Pamphlet
