A Greek mobster who ran a criminal organization in Montreal, Canada, was executed in cold blood in a Laval-area cafe, shocking the local community.
The victim is Charalambos Theologos, also known by authorities as "Bobby the Greek", while the main track remains drug laundering and territorial control.
The media has also revealed the video of the execution of the 40-year-old Greek man. Two armed men wearing hoodies and T-shirts entered a Starbucks coffee shop and opened fire on the victim (30 seconds into the video). Customers fell to the floor to save themselves, while security cameras recorded the attack, with customers running in terror towards the exit.
Theologos was mortally wounded and died within seconds, while two other people who were near him were seriously injured.
Quebec police are treating the killing as a settling of scores between rival organized crime factions, as Theologos was known for his involvement in drug trafficking, extortion and arson in the Laval area.
According to CBC, the victim was the leader of a group known as the "Greeks of the Day," which was involved in extortion and illegal activities.
"The target was Charalambos Theologos, known as Bobby the Greek. He was killed along with two other gang members," the Canadian network reported.
Reports indicate that he had recently clashed with other criminal groups, including the Hells Angels in Ontario, which may have led to his murder.
"He was involved in extortion and possibly arson attacks on restaurants. He was trying to extort money through threats, which caused negative reactions in the criminal world," said a former Montreal police chief.
Security camera footage has now been included in the case file and is considered a key element in identifying the perpetrators. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating a burned-out car found in a parking lot in northeast Montreal hours after the murder. The vehicle is believed to have been the perpetrators' getaway vehicle, and traces of fuel have been found that support the arson scenario. No arrests have been made by police so far.
