At least 2,000 people have died during protests in Iran over the past two weeks, including nine children.
This is the figure published by the Human Rights Activists News Agency, a group based in the United States, which confirms the same data reported earlier by the Reuters agency, based on statements by an Iranian official.
According to the human rights group, of the total victims, 1,847 were protesters, while 135 people were individuals affiliated with the government. It also reported that nine other civilians who were not participating in the protests were killed.
The protests, which have been accompanied by violent clashes, have sparked widespread international concern about the human rights situation in Iran, while the death toll continues to rise.
