Turkey has tried to position itself as a peacemaker in recent years. It has organized talks between Russia and Ukraine in an attempt to help find an agreement to end this conflict, of course, without much success yet. And now it is making announcements that it is talking to all parties to this war.
Hakan Fidan, Turkey's foreign minister, has discussed steps to end the war, according to a Turkish diplomatic source. Fidan has held separate phone calls with Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, as well as with US officials, according to Reuters.
Fidan also spoke with the Egyptian foreign minister and the European Union's foreign policy chief.
However, sources from Qatar say that there are no ongoing mediation efforts for now, at least from Qatar.
" We are currently focused on defending our country and addressing the situation following the LNG attacks. We are not currently engaged in any mediation efforts ," a Qatari diplomat said.
However, despite Turkey's effort, the US and Iran appear to have no plans to sit down for peace talks yet.
