French far-right leader Marine Le Pen is back to her usual fierce campaigning mode this morning, having just declared that her RN party "would not allow the French people to have their presidential election stolen" following yesterday's court ruling that barred her from the 2027 race.
In comments reported by French media, she told a group meeting open to the press this morning that she wanted to "defend the French people, who have the right to vote for whomever they want."
Le Pen compared the decision against her to "a nuclear bomb" dropped on her "by the system", arguing that "if they use such a powerful weapon against us, it is because we are on the verge of winning the election".
"We will not allow this to happen," she added.
Le Pen also blamed the courts for "interference" in the electoral process, saying this undermines France's ability to defend democracy globally.
However, she strongly criticized the reported threats against judges, saying they were "scandalous" and "unacceptable."
