Iran has condemned the new round of sanctions imposed on Tehran by the European Union and Britain, denying that it has provided ballistic missiles to Russia.
This is what a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Iran said on October 15 through a post on X.
The European Union on Monday agreed to impose sanctions on seven people and seven organizations, including the airline, Iran Air, over their links to Iranian transfers of ballistic missiles to Russia.
At the same time, Britain added nine entities from Iran to its sanctions list.
Last month, the United States, citing information shared with allies, said Russia had received ballistic missiles from Iran to use in its war against Ukraine.
The spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, denied that his country has provided ballistic missiles to Russia.
"Several European countries and Britain unfortunately claim, without any evidence, that Iran has intervened militarily in this conflict, which we completely reject," Baghaei said, referring to the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
Baghaei condemned the new round of sanctions and said the imposition of new sanctions by the EU and Britain against Iranian individuals and entities was contrary to international law.
Under the sanctions, all flights by Iranian airlines to Europe will be banned, Iranian officials said.
Among the sanctioned persons is the Iranian Deputy Minister of Defense, Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari.
Sanctions also include asset freezes and travel bans to the EU.
