Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were dragged from their bedroom by US forces during the raid that led to their arrest.
CNN reports that the couple was arrested by Delta Force in the middle of the night while they were sleeping.
The United States launched a major attack on several locations in Venezuela this Saturday morning, including military bases in the country.
US President Donald Trump said the US military had "captured Venezuelan President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and taken them out of the country", in an action carried out "in coordination with the US justice administration".
Trump, who ordered the attack, had in recent weeks raised the possibility of ground attacks against Venezuela in the name of a "war on drug cartels" and declared that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's days were "numbered."
Meanwhile, United States Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that Venezuela's acting president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife have been formally indicted in the Southern District of New York.
