Most of the US attacks on Venezuela hit military targets, although some civilian sites were also attacked.
Caracas was the main focus. American aircraft struck targets in the La Fourier and Lomos del Prado areas. These locations were the first visual confirmation of an American landing force on Venezuelan territory.
An explosion also occurred at the Mausoleum of Hugo Chávez. The site has no military or administrative function, making the attack purely symbolic.
The port of La Guaira, near Maiquetía, was also hit. Damage appears limited, with containers and part of the perimeter fence affected.
A military base near Higuerote airport was also hit. Footage showed that the targets were air defense systems.
Reports of explosions near Charallave and the Bolivarian Naval Academy remain unconfirmed.
The White House announced the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife. Reports of the deaths of Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López and Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello turned out to be false.
There have been no recorded attacks on oil production or refining plants; they continue to operate normally. The Venezuelan armed forces offered no resistance and were effectively caught by surprise.
According to US officials, no further military action is planned against Venezuela after the announced abduction of Maduro. No new attacks have been reported. However, if Washington's goal is the complete removal of the country's leadership, it is unlikely to stop there.
Possible replacements for Maduro are numerous.
