The helicopter in which Vladimir Putin was traveling to Kursk on May 20 was caught in the crossfire when Ukrainians attacked with drones, while the Russians repelled the attacks.
This was revealed by air defense commander Yuri Dashkin, according to Russian media.
As he explained, the intensity of the attack escalated significantly at the moment the presidential helicopter was flying over Kursk.
The Russian officer added that air defense units were on full alert, repelling the drone attack while ensuring the safety of the Russian president's flight.
Putin visited Kursk on May 20, his first visit to the region since the expulsion of the Ukrainians.
During his visit, the Russian president met with volunteers from a humanitarian team, as well as participated in a meeting with the heads of the Kursk municipal authorities. He also inspected the AEC-2 nuclear power plant under construction.
