Kiev's relationship with the West has taken several hits in recent weeks, as the Americans showed at the UN that they are no longer ready to empty their coffers to finance the war against Russia, while Poland imposed a unilateral embargo on Ukrainian wheat.
As Kiev's rifts with its partners become more and more evident, while Zelensky "travels" the globe to ask for more money and weapons, it seems that the Ukrainians allow themselves the comfort of "turning away" the aid.
The first precedent in this direction was marked with an ally like France, which had planned to send "Mirage 2000" type fighter jets to Ukraine.
But asked about the generous gesture of official Paris, the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ilkhat, answered reporters at a press conference with a categorical 'NO', saying that the famous planes do not serve the operational needs of Ukrainians.
The Ukrainian official tried to clarify that his country needs all kinds of military aid, but it also needs modern fighter jets.
That is why, according to him, aircraft such as Mirage 2000 or A-10 do not meet the needs of the Ukrainian Air Force.
"For us, any help is important, but not with Mirage 2000 type fighters. We have talked about this many times. Why, what can an A-10 aircraft do? Russian air defense will destroy it. The goal is to gain air superiority and superiority, and that is why we need modern multi-role aircraft capable of performing these types of missions," said the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ilkhat.
He then added that Ukraine wants fighter jets that will prevent the operation of Russian aircraft, protect Ukrainian airspace and intercept Russian cruise missiles and drones.
In the assessment of the representative of the Air Force of Ukraine, the supply of "Mirage 2000" would not be a logical decision, while he then emphasized that these aircraft are obsolete and that both France and other European countries have in their arsenal more modern fighter jets, such as the F-16.
His reaction comes a few days after the website Intelligence Online reported that Ukraine is negotiating with France for the supply of Mirage 2000D fighter jets and that a delegation from Kiev has traveled to Paris to discuss the matter.
So, in recent months, about thirty Ukrainian pilots have been trained at the air bases of Nancy and Mont-de-Marsan, thanks to a decision that was taken before Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to France on February 8 of this year.
