The former Deputy Minister of Health in Greece, Mina Gaga, has stated that in the fall it may be necessary to resume the application of a new dose of the vaccine against the coronavirus.
" We are waiting for all the instructions from both the National Commission and the World Health Organization, personally I think we will need a dose in the fall, as it is needed for the flu that changes subvariants every year," she said .
Gaga added that the new subvariants of Covid are increasing the number of people hospitalized and those who need intubation, the numbers, she added, are not alarming, but care must be taken to monitor the situation.
" We have sub-variants of Omicron, they differ slightly and the cases increase. In the last week they have increased over 70%, but we are talking about 450 imports throughout the week.
We are talking about 8 intubations a week, and mostly people who are older and have health problems. So I think what we have to think about is that there is a coronavirus, it is among us, people who have a problem are more at risk and should be careful to take this into account, but the numbers are not alarming," she said .
