However, considering the uprising that happened 3 months ago, Putin will hardly allow Wagner to fall into the hands of the 'Prigozhins' again...
Russian President Vladimir Putin, a month and a half after the mysterious death of the head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has given details about the ongoing investigations.
Putin said during a forum in Sochi, that fragments of hand grenades were discovered in the bodies of the victims who were found inside the crashed plane.
This is the first significant update we've had since the plane crash north of Moscow in late August, the cause of which has been shrouded in mystery. None of the top leaders of the Kremlin have dared to speak about the case and apparently it was Putin's order.
We recall that the incident occurred two months after Prigozhin led a failed rebellion against high-ranking Russian officials who, according to him, had failed in their duty to invade Ukraine.
Moscow confirmed Prigozhin's death in the accident after genetic tests, but did not reveal the cause of the accident. Many commentators suggested the Russian state was responsible - but the Kremlin denied it was behind the crash.
Despite Putin's statement today, Prigozhin's death remains a mystery and the main suspect remains the Russian despot himself.
This is because Prigozhin is not the first case. Putin has ordered the execution of all those persons whom he saw as a danger to his power, or potential opponents in the future.
Despite the fact that Prigozhin was taken from the streets by the Russian despot and made one of the richest men in the Kremlin, the betrayal that the head of Wagner did to Putin was clearly unforgivable.
Meanwhile today, almost 1 and a half months after Prigozhin's death, the terrible Wagner group has lost the authority, identity and strength it had in its time.
Wagner has now been separated and placed under Putin's complete control. An attempt to bring the mercenary group back under the patronage of the "Prigozhins" was that of Yevgeny's son, who a few days ago started negotiations with the Kremlin to transfer to him the group controlled by his father. However, considering the uprising that happened 3 months ago, Putin will hardly allow Wagner to fall into the hands of the "Prigozhins" again.
