The head of Ukraine's intelligence agency, Kyrylo Budanov, said Ukraine's counteroffensive against Russian aggressors would continue in the coming months, despite worsening weather making the fighting more difficult, he said on Saturday.
" The combat actions will continue one way or another. In the cold, in the rain and in the mud, it is more difficult to fight. The fighting and the counteroffensive will continue ," said Mr. Budanov.
Ukraine's counteroffensive has yielded more results in the south of the country, where defense forces have managed to liberate more than 10 villages in the past three months.
Ukraine's armed forces are making "gradual tactical advances" against Russia's defense line east of the town of Robotyne, Britain's Ministry of Defense said Saturday in its daily briefing on Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The counteroffensive launched by Ukraine has been slower than expected due to large mined areas and the deployment of Russian troops.
Mr. Budanov's comments, made during a press conference in Kiev, show that Ukraine has no intention of stopping its counteroffensive when the weather worsens in the coming months.
The results of the counteroffensive have raised concerns among Kiev's supporters that the West may face an uphill battle to continue aid to Ukraine and the military support necessary for Kiev to continue fighting at the same intensity.
