Putin's biggest fear is that he could be killed like Colonel Muammar Gaddafi - who suffered public torture, brutalization and execution by a mob...
The former bodyguard of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has stated that Putin lives in constant fear of being killed and does not trust anyone.
Vitaly Brizhatiy is reported to be a member of Putin's security staff at a previously undisclosed residence used by Vlad in Crimea. Brizhatiy spoke to one of Russia's few independent television stations as he offered an insight into an increasingly paranoid Putin. The former guard - who is reported to have been in charge of the dogs at Putin's estate - fled Russia and now resides in Ecuador.
He claimed the dictator and his cronies used a series of seaside mansions in southern Crimea. Putin annexed the peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 - and retaking the region is a major war goal for Kiev. Satellite photos from 2018 show a series of villas in the area he describes - including properties with swimming pools and a helipad.
The homes also appear to have tennis courts and private docks. Brizhatiy describes the properties as "holiday palaces" used by Putin, along with his warmongering cronies former prime minister Dmitry Medvedev and FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov.
" After the Crimea was conquered, the sea near their dachas was surrounded. Now local people have no access to the sea ," he said.
The head of the watchdog said that [Putin's] presence in the sprawling palace “is hidden even from his staff. They are told he is there, but he may not be…
" He doesn't trust his people. He trusts only a select circle of close people…. People who check the country he will visit, or stay near him, are sent to quarantine for up to 3 weeks. This is happening constantly, to this day ," he said.
When he arrives, he is routinely given false information about the airport he will be traveling to and then he can come by sea.
Brizhatiy said: " This is how a person fears for his life ."
These luxury homes have been hidden from ordinary Russians, but they are unlikely to be used by Putin and his cronies now that they are within range of Ukrainian drones and missiles. The dictator is now believed to favor his bunker-equipped palaces deeper in Russia.
Putin is widely reported to have become increasingly paranoid and fearful for his life as his war on Ukraine continues to fail. He is alleged to have survived six assassination attempts since he was in office. And his public appearances are becoming increasingly rare and stage-managed.
Ukrainian drones are flying deep into Crimea and into Russia, all the way to Moscow. Putin has reportedly become increasingly dependent on his network of bunkers, even traveling by train to avoid threats.
His power was also brazenly challenged when the Wagner Group marched on Moscow - before its leader was killed in a mysterious plane crash.
He wrote: " When he [Gaddafi] was a pari, no one touched him. But as soon as he was opened, he not only fell, but was killed in the street like a scabby old man. "
Putin's nemesis, Yuri Felshtinsky, previously told The Sun Online that Putin is terrified that if he ever relinquishes control, a similar bitter end awaits him.
" He is smart enough to know that under normal rules, his system of government cannot exist. He is not an idealist ," added Zygar.
