A senior adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has left the Department of Defense less than three months after taking office.
Justin Fulcher, who previously worked for the Department of Government Efficiency before being appointed to serve at the Pentagon in late April, said his departure was "planned" after exactly six months working in the Trump administration.
"As planned, I have completed 6 months of government service to my country. Working alongside the dedicated men and women of the Department of Defense has been incredibly inspiring. Reviving the warrior ethos, rebuilding the military, and restoring deterrence are just a few of the historic achievements I am proud to have witnessed. However, this is only the beginning," Fulcher said in a statement.
He added that “none of this would have happened without Secretary Hegseth’s decisive leadership or President Trump’s continued confidence in our team.”
Fulcher was one of three people selected to fill vacancies in Hegseth's office in late April after two staff members were fired following a Pentagon investigation into leaks to the media.
Fulcher's departure from the Pentagon makes him the sixth employee to leave Hegseth's office since the start of the Trump administration in January.
