The attacks in Gaza continue, 5 killed and dozens injured

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) announced that five people were killed and dozens wounded by gunfire during an aid distribution in Gaza.

The tragic event occurred after thousands of people gathered for the arrival of about 15 trucks of flour and other food, which were supposed to be distributed at the Kuwait roundabout of Gaza City, in the north of the territory.

The roundabout has been the scene of several chaotic and deadly aid delivery incidents, including one on March 23 in which the Hamas-run government said 21 people were killed by Israeli fire, a charge Israel has denied.

Eyewitnesses told APF that Palestinians overseeing the distribution of aid fired into the air, but Israeli troops in the area also opened fire and several moving trucks hit people who were trying to get food.

According to a UN report on March 19, half of Palestinians are suffering from a famine that is predicted to hit the north if there is no urgent intervention. The report estimated that 1.1 million people, half the population, according to UN data, were facing catastrophic conditions.

This is not the first time that Palestinians have been killed during the distribution of aid. On March 14, six Palestinians were killed and dozens injured as crowds of Gaza City residents waited for trucks carrying humanitarian aid.

Also on February 29, Palestinian health authorities announced that Israeli soldiers killed more than 100 Palestinians waiting to receive humanitarian aid near Gaza City.

The conflict in Gaza has displaced most of the enclave's 2.3 million population and there have been chaotic scenes and bloody incidents during the distribution of humanitarian aid as desperate and hungry residents struggle to get food.
