Former US President Joe Biden, whose visibility in national politics has diminished since leaving the White House, has issued a statement calling for an investigation into the recent shooting by federal agents in Minneapolis.
In a social media post, Biden denounced the Trump administration's efforts in Minnesota as a campaign of violence and terror.
"What happened in Minneapolis last month betrays our most fundamental values as Americans. We are not a nation that shoots our citizens in the streets. We are not a nation that allows our citizens to be brutalized for exercising their constitutional rights. Now, justice demands full, fair and transparent investigations into the deaths of two Americans who lost their lives in the city they called home," Biden wrote.
It was a rare statement from the Democratic leader, who is currently undergoing radiation treatment for cancer.
