The lawyers of the 50-year-old Albanian Fatmir Tarellari, who in January killed his 33-year-old brother-in-law Erjon Pelivani with a rifle because he had raped his daughter, have requested to be released from prison.
Fatmir Tarellari is kept in a special ward in the prisons of Larissa and contacts his three children almost every day. The 50-year-old was placed under house arrest on January 22, but after a week of staying at home, he was sent to Larissa prisons.
The Albanian killed the 33-year-old man with a shotgun after he set a trap for him when he learned that Erjon Pelivani had sexually abused his daughter and immediately afterwards he surrendered to the Police. Before the crime, his now 18-year-old daughter had confessed to him that Erjon Pelivani, the brother of his second wife, raped her since she was 9 years old and had recently blackmailed her into publishing intimate videos.
"I did it for protection, I regretted it", said his testimony, arguing that the gun was fired accidentally. He also claimed that his daughter reached the point of suicide after what the 33-year-old went through.
"My daughter, who is an orphan because her mother died, absolutely needs me to support her psychologically and financially. She is emotionally damaged and has even attempted suicide. I didn't know that, her teacher and the psychologist told me ," he said.
Fatmir Tarellari has also stated that the livelihood of his family, mainly his minor son and his daughter who is a student at the University, depend only on his work as they have no other income.
