US President Donald Trump said his administration is conducting intensive efforts to identify the person who leaked information about missing servicemen in Iran.
He called the leak a serious national security issue, noting that the consequences could have been severe for operations on the ground. "They put the mission at great risk," Trump said.
The US president also warned the journalist who published the news, demanding that he reveal the source of the information. He hinted that refusal to cooperate could lead to legal consequences.
Trump stressed that the administration is determined to get to the bottom of this matter, considering identifying those responsible for the release of sensitive information a priority.
"We're going to go to the media company that released it and say, 'National Security, turn him in or go to jail.' To find the missing service member is even harder. We have to find the person who leaked the information because he's a sick person; maybe we didn't realize the severity of the situation... They put this mission in great jeopardy," Trump said.
