Four days before November 5, the result for the US presidential election seems to be understood only after the votes are counted, because many polls are reflecting a very strong race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The website "Real Clear Politics" has made a summary of several polls, which show a very close race, especially in the 7 critical states.
Harris leads in Wisconsin and Michigan by 0.2% and 0.4%, respectively. Trump continues to lead in Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia.
Leading it however is very easy. It leads at or below 1% in Nevada, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Trump has a relatively larger lead in Arizona (+2.4%) and Georgia (+2.7%).
Key states are seen as essential since the US does not directly elect its presidents. Together they provide candidates with over 90 electoral votes, more than 1/3 of the total usually needed to become president.
Meanwhile, American women have begun to vote en masse without waiting for the arrival of November 5.
According to the Election Lab at the University of Florida, more than 62 million people have voted by mail or in person so far. Early voters are reported to be more Democratic, with an advantage of about 900,000 more voters.
