Teams searching for the missing Titan submarine heard sounds every 30 minutes on Tuesday. Four hours later, after additional sonar equipment was deployed, the sounds could still be heard.
This was reported by the BBC, citing an internal memo from the US government.
It's unclear when the noise was heard or for how long, according to the memo.
"Additional acoustic feedback has been heard, which will help guide surface assets and indicate that there may be survivors," the US government memo said.
A Canadian P-8 plane involved in the search heard crashes every 30 minutes. "Four hours later another sonar was deployed and crashes were still being heard," an email to officials said. The US Coast Guard also confirmed that the plane detected underwater noises in the area.
