Vladimir Putin with Patriarch Kirill /

Why Vladimir Putin is afraid of the Vatican: Russian diplomacy turns into a religious farce to avoid peace and continue the war...

When you think you've heard everything from Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov reminds you that in Russia the absurdity knows no bounds. This time, the official reason for the rejection of peace negotiations in the Vatican was not some accusation against NATO, nor any "Western provocation", but... religion. Yes, according to Lavrov, "it is not elegant for Orthodox to negotiate on Catholic soil".

By this logic, if Ukraine and Russia were Buddhists, perhaps the talks should be held in Tibet. Or perhaps on some other planet, where Lavrov would not feel "spiritually insulted."

In reality, this is nothing more than a primitive alibi to sabotage any sincere chance for peace. It is not the first time that the Kremlin has used the religious card as a mask for aggression, an old tactic that even Stalin would envy.

Lavrov, a veteran of diplomatic lies, knows well that there is nothing "inelegant" in dialogue, except for its rejection. The problem is not the Vatican, nor the Pope, nor the Catholic rite, the problem is that there are no Russian soldiers there, there is no propaganda, and there is no one to support the Kremlin's narrative.

Basically, Lavrov does not accept the Vatican as a place for talks because he cannot blackmail anyone there with gas and missiles. At an honest table, Russia would have to answer for the aggression, for the massacres, for the deportations. And this is what Putin hates most: responsibility.

After this statement, we can expect Lavrov tomorrow to request that the talks be held in the Russian Orthodox Church, with Patriarch Kirill as the mediator, the one who blesses the invasion missiles as a "holy mission."

This is not diplomacy. This is political blasphemy, disguised in sacred words to cover up the most mundane crimes that can exist.

The conclusion?

Don't be surprised if tomorrow Russia declares that peace is "heretical" and war is "spiritual sacrifice." Meanwhile, Ukraine bleeds and Europe looks out the window, waiting for the Orthodox to find a "more suitable" land to never get along./ Pamphlet
