If this is the new model for reforming RTSH, then Albanians have the right not only to be indignant but also to revolt...
The appointment of Eni Vasili as Director General of RTSH appears to have been not simply a managerial choice, but a well-calculated maneuver by Edi Rama to turn public television into an extension of his media wing.
This is blatantly proven by Baton Haxhiu, the prime minister's modern Rasputin, who in an open letter gives Eni direct instructions, pushing him to bypass the Board of Directors and transform RTSH according to the clan's recipe.
In this letter, Baton Haxhiu suggests to Vasili to close RTSH for six months and rebuild it from scratch, removing all the staff and creators who have kept this institution alive for decades. A plan with an autocratic air, which would have been implemented long ago by Rama, if he had not been afraid of the public reaction. Now, with Eni at the helm, Baton at the back and A. Sh. the history lover behind the scenes, the plan is being put into practice.
But who is Baton Haxhiu? The journalist that Veton Surroi has described as a man who does not know how to write even a simple chronicle. Fired for theft by Devolli and having failed with the Klan Kosova project, Baton Haxhiu has today become the inspirer of the "salvation" of RTSH. The only experience he has is the permanent management of his own interests and now, those interests clash brutally with the Albanian public.
Batoni's suggestion that A.Sh be appointed news director is as comical as it is terrifying. It means that RTSH will no longer be a public media outlet, but a voice chamber for a trio that has neither professional weight nor public respect. This is what Edi Rama plans; to turn a national institution into a private miniature where lovers, friends, and editorial nonsense circulate.
RTSH, which by law is a state media but not a government media, risks losing its public function entirely. Instead of taking an example from BBC, RAI or ARD, televisions that serve information, culture and education, RTSH is turning into a mini-studio for Rama's live broadcasts. The director's buses, cameramen, sound technicians have become servants of the "Sultan" who has captured every cell of public communication.
If this plan goes to the end, if Eni Vasili implements Batoni's suggestions and brings A. Sh to RTSH as news director, and Batoni as a missionary of salvation, it will not be surprising that the public will miss totalitarian regimes, at least they were more honest about censorship.
Because what is happening today is a mockery. A grave mockery of Albanian taxpayers, of professional journalists, of every citizen who seeks an impartial voice. If this is the new model of reforming RTSH, then Albanians have the right not only to be indignant but also to revolt.
RTSH is not a place to warm lovers, Batons and the propaganda project-kings. It is a public media. And if it is not protected now, tomorrow will be too late./ Pamphlet
