From political dilettancy to abandoned causes...
The MP of the Democratic Party, Tomor Alizoti, has repeated an expression that has now become fashionable among senior politicians of the DP. For a long time, they have not stopped expressing their frustration with the citizens, asking why they do not go out to the squares to overthrow Edi Rama, but remain indifferent. They are not even satisfied with that, but also criticize the way people live. According to them, "the people drink coffee all day long." This kind of attitude, in addition to a high-level dilettantism, is also a serious insult.
Essentially, we are dealing with a scandalous ignorance of reality and a total lack of empathy for the concerns of citizens. The opposition, in any country where power is changed by vote, cannot complain why people do not come out in the streets. Not even in cases where its leadership feels persecuted. Because the opposition, historically, has never been comfortable. It has always walked a difficult path, full of obstacles, where its politicians have been attacked, blackmailed, bought, imprisoned, and even killed. Being an opposition member is a dangerous mission, because its objective is to overthrow a government, and behind every government stand powerful financial, economic, and criminal groups, who do everything to maintain power.
The opposition, therefore, is essentially revolutionary. It is a mined road, where there are and will always be fallen and wounded, in the political and social sense of the word. Therefore, the politicians of the Democratic Party who curse the people for not coming out to protest, must first get to know the real problems of the people well. And then, channel those concerns into sustainable political causes, which are not left to the streets, but are carried to the end.
But what happened to the Albanian opposition during Rama's rule?
The cases have been filed and dropped without any result. They have been used more for electoral reasons than for the civic interest. The example of the protest of the residents of Unaza e Re is clear. The opposition took it upon itself to lead the revolt against the demolition of the apartments, but used it according to its own interests and in the end abandoned the citizens. The result: they were imprisoned, had criminal proceedings, were economically ruined and received only what the government had foreseen, nothing more.
A real protest must have a maximum plan, an optimal one and a minimum one, always higher than the initial offer of the government. But our opposition has not even come close to the minimum plan. What the government has said has always been implemented. Therefore, citizens are tired, disappointed and no longer trust an opposition that uses them for political scenarios, but does not bring them any victory.
So, when Tomor Alizoti and others curse the people for not taking to the streets, they are asking the wrong question. Why should citizens take to the streets when they gain nothing? People do not come out to please politicians who want to become MPs, nor to give an empty message. They come out when they have hope that they will change something. For this, Tomorri and his colleagues should listen less to themselves and more to the citizens. / Pamphlet
