Call it what you will: “flirtation,” as the French presidency called it, or “geoplanetary catastrophe,” as “victim” Macron ironically put it. A slap is a slap...
It can only be the French way, not the “Western” way, someone would rightly say. American women shoot more furiously. Balkan women shoot differently, when the opportunity arises… and their turn. Northern, Nordic women? I do not want to comment on this so as not to Kosovarize the topic. Albanian women, in general, seem to have added elements of matriarchy during the dictatorship of the proletariat, but… this was called equality at that time. Equality certainly had two sides to it, or more?
However, don't be fooled by the title or the introduction about domestic violence against women. It's the opposite. That has nothing to do with this topic. Today we're talking about "flirting" in powerful families, or in other words, we're talking about the geopolitics of the slap. Call it what you will: "flirting," as the French presidency called it, or "geoplanetary catastrophe," as the "victim" Macron ironically put it. A slap is a slap.
But there's a difference between a slap and a slap. This was a slap that, in the future, would become known as the French way of flirting in a couple.
Let's be clear, this is not an article for the pink media, nor is it entirely easy to read. It may even carry the warning sign 39+, that's how old Mrs. Macron was when she met and was amazed by the genius of her student, who was only 15 at the time. So, the topic is also ... pedagogical.
This actually claims to be a deep geopolitical analysis, dealing with Western cultural and social identity, in the face of other global identities, although one might rightly ask whether there is such a thing as what we call Western culture? Does it differ only in form, or also in content?
When you compare civilizations, do Chinese, Hindu, Arab, Latin American women hit harder...or is it just different? Do they call it flirting or punishment, spanking?
In the West, when a man beats his wife, it is primitivism, savagery. When a woman beats her husband, this is culture… and equality. After all, she will never be able to repay all the debts that have accumulated since the time when matriarchy was replaced by… marriage before God and before the law.
The slap can also be called flirting. Or even a "planetary catastrophe". At least in France. In Europe, there is more color. Not everyone shoots the same. They differ a lot. The Mediterranean, the former Soviet part, the northerners, the Balkans, everyone shoots in their own way.
Don't be fooled, there is no peaceful people anywhere who don't shoot. One side still shoots, on occasion. The occasion may be appropriate, where the shooting may taste good, seem sweet, may be reprehensible, but... it may also be a diplomatic scandal.
Was it a diplomatic scandal? I don't believe it. That's what it would be like if Mrs. Macron, in a fit of anger, had hit a Vietnamese man with her right hand. When there is "flirting" within the family, this can also be taken as passion. Then, although it took place in front of the Vietnamese and global public, the event did not take place on Vietnamese territory. The Presidential Plane is French territory. No scandal. Vietnamese laws are not competent.
From a political point of view, the demonstration of strength made Mrs. Macron a strong woman. I can count on the votes of women and some men. Then, it seems that more and more French people think that France needed a strong hand… a woman. This finally “ruins” Mrs. Le Pen, who until recently was the strongest French hand. But, a Paris Court found Marine Le Pen guilty of embezzlement of EU funds, thus ruining her politically. Mrs. Macron’s slap also ruined her “image” as the strongest woman in French politics.
So, after the exotic "flirting" in Vietnam, will she compete?
Let's finally return to the West and our topic: Western culture is not homogeneous. There is no single way of thinking, living, or building relationships between couples...or even of slapping.
Europeans do not have a uniform code of conduct when it comes to slapping. They judge it anyway, no matter from which side it comes, even though practice and theory often contradict each other.
PS: In the West, there are also modern and post-identitarian families. In this cultural mix, it is a challenge to distinguish who is the one
